Best Gift Ever-Dec 2008

The Best Birthday Ever!
In the early mornings I am drawn to my favorite spot in our quaint upper living room. The lighting is just right, the couch is soft, my lap blanket is near by and my bible is within arms reach. Enticed by the Book of Daniel, this particular day I forgot it was my 52nd birthday.

When Rebekah awoke, she snuggled up next to me and wished me Happy Birthday then gave me the greatest gift any child could give to a parent. Her words of gratitude for me being her mom and helping her to become the person she is today. These words brought tears to my eyes.

Soon I was rushing out the door as I had accepted an invitation from one of my dearest Mexican friends to join her and her group of ladies for a breakfast and bible study. I knew I was in for another long Spanish lesson, and I was up for the challenge. At the study I was given another set of gifts to celebrate my birthday. The gift of true friendship sprinkled with prayers of blessings by these beautiful Mexican women. The day couldn’t get any better.

The Best Christmas Ever!
As we enter into the Christmas season, the season known for giving and receiving, you too can be a part of receiving a great gift. The greatest gift ever given was God sending His son Jesus Christ to earth. God’s son became a person and lived right here on earth amongst us.

In our Missionary Training, Mike Mc Donald (YUGO missionary) encourages us to be transformed into the culture of Mexico so we can reach our Mexican friends with the love of God. Imagine this, Jesus came to earth and was born of a woman. He left his Father’s side and chose to transform himself into our culture so He could reach out to us with his love.

This can be your best Christmas ever. God has a gift for each of us. The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. He sent His son, born in a manger so you could have eternal life with Him. If you have never invited Jesus to be a special part in your life, I would invite you to do so. This may be your best Christmas ever! This Christmas, let’s keep in mind the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of our Savior.

Rod, Rebekah and I will not be able to be with family this year for Christmas. Our plan is to get in the car and head south. This may be our last family vacation with Rebekah as she is seeking what she will do when she finishes school in June. We pray your Christmas will be filled with joy and peace.
